From an article on Phys dot org, researchers improved a catalyst to help transform biomass, to a useful chemical derivative. Biomass is a waste product from ethanol plants and many other chemical process plants. If we can convert it to other chemicals, to help in green energy, etc. It’ is a big step forward. Converting Cellulose to anything useful could enable crops of “weeds” or high cellulose content crops to be used for this as well, That is a bit of speculation by me on that. But this is a step forward!
From the article “Biomass waste, a byproduct of various industrial processes, presents an untapped potential for the production of biofuels and bio-additives. However, the conversion of biomass into useful chemicals has been hindered by inefficiencies in existing catalytic processes”
