Advances in Photonic Time crystals. More tech at the edge of my understanding

from an article in Phys org some advanced material they call photonic time crystals. Evidently it can change its optical properties very rapidly, such as similar to the inverse wavelength of light. (The lights frequency). So the material changes conditions like the speed of light in that material, back and forth quickly. This has some ways to interact with light that are very unique

it seems it can trap the light and amplify it it new ways. They say this could be used to detect viruses for example, in real time with sensors
